Along with the essay please include only your first and last name, academic year (sophmore, etc) and an email address or telephone number that you're able to access year round. You may include materials that support your essay (video, photos, documents), but they are not necessary.

Scholarship recipients are generally contacted within 2 weeks of the end of the competition for which they applied. Only those selected to receive an award will be contacted.

Am I eligible to receive your scholarship?

Answer: You're eligible to apply if you're going to be enrolled in a minimum of three college hours (generally 1 class)for the summer or fall semesters. High school seniors who will be enrolled in dual credit courses through a college are eligible to apply. Graduate students may also apply for our scholarships.

I'm going enrolling in (trade school, barber college, massage therapy school, ITT Tech, Devry, etc) - am I eligible to apply?

Answer: Those attending these career oriented schools are eligible to apply. Please explain in your essay why you chose your program as opposed to seeking a college degree. We generally award 10% of our scholarships to those enrolled in these programs.

How will the scholarship money be disbursed? Will it be sent to me, or to my school?

Answer: The scholarship check is sent to the address provided by the applicant. We decided not to involve the student's college in the award process. Often times colleges will decrease a students financial aid as a result of scholarships. We do not want to impact the recipients financial aid package in any way.

Tell me more about the desired essay format - single or double spaced? What happens if I exceed the recommended word limit?

Answer: Please limit your essay to two pages single spaced, or four pages double. We prefer you use a size 12 font. You may include a photo, or other art if you think it's applicable to your essay topic. Several of our previous scholarships were awarded to applicants who submitted an essay, but also included a link to a video of them reading the essay or showcasing a talent mentioned in their essay (such as singing). We've never disqualified an applicant for exceeding the recommended word limit.

Who won the previous scholarships? May I have their names? How do I know if I've won a previous scholarship?

Answer: Our privacy policy prevents us from releasing the names of those who've received our scholarships. We've successfully contacted all of those who've been selected for previous scholarship awards.

Are graduate students eligible to apply?

Answer: Yes, graduate students are eligible to apply for and receive our scholarships.

All information submitted to our email address is considered confidential and will not be provided to any third parties. All emails and essays are deleted at the end of each scholarship competition cycle.
